Weekending as Self Care

Life can get hectic and overwhelming at times, leaving us feeling drained and in need of a break. That's why it's essential to prioritize self-care and take some time off to recharge. One of the best ways to do this is by planning a weekend away dedicated solely to your well-being. I'm sharing my most recent getaway & MY perfect itinerary for a weekend filled with self-care activities, including a night out with a friend, shopping, eating delicious food, and even spoiling myself with something extra fun!

Start your weekend away by planning a night out with a close friend.I had tickets for Darcy & Jer's comedy show, No Refunds! It was an inclusive, safe and warming experience, AND SO FUNNY!  The evening out had a lot of reminders for me, but the most important one being -  quality time with a friend is not only enjoyable but also essential for your mental well-being.

No weekend away is complete without a little retail therapy. Take some time to explore the local shops and boutiques in the area. Treat yourself to something special, whether it's a new outfit, a piece of jewelry, or a luxurious skincare product. Remember, self-care also means pampering yourself and indulging in things that make you happy.

Food plays a significant role in self-care. Use this weekend away as an opportunity to try new restaurants and cuisines. Research the local food scene and make a list, and don't forget ordering in! I often find myself overstimulated from a day out and relish in ordering delivery in a new city! One night I even walked down to Whole Foods and created my version of 'Girl Dinner'.

 

I ended my weekend away on a high note by having a fun photoshoot! I hired my favourite local photographer, Josh from Elm Photography, but you can DIY a shoot if you want!  Find a picturesque location, whether it's a park, a beach, or a vibrant city street. Bring along your friend or hire a professional photographer to capture beautiful moments. Dress up, strike a pose, and let the camera immortalize your happiness and self-care journey. (My professional photos are not done yet but here's a glimpse of the look..)

 

Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's necessary for your overall well-being. Take the time to prioritize yourself and plan a weekend away dedicated to relaxation, fun, and rejuvenation. By incorporating a night out with a friend, shopping, eating delicious food, and having a photoshoot, you'll create lasting memories and come back feeling refreshed and ready to conquer the world.
